Wish You Were Here

Wish You Were Here is a collaborative series from Paloma Rincón and Lobulo. Every detail has been built from scratch, back and forth, object by object, image by image. Lobulo spent months handcrafting every single prop at real scale from paper and crepe: flowers, cigarettes, a heart-shaped ashtray, a matchbook that says “We Tried”, and Paloma composed and lit each scene, building sets around those objects until they felt like something that actually existed in the world.

No AI, no 3D, no compositing. Every image was created in camera. What looks like a real scene at first glance reveals itself, only when you zoom in, as something entirely made by hand. That moment of discovery is part of the work.

This is their take on Vanitas, a painting tradition that used symbolic objects to reflect on life, pleasure and the passage of time, brought into the present with the objects that actually surround us now.
